Showing Your House at its Best

  • Open every window covering. Buyers like a house to be “light and bright,” so accommodate them! Turn on as many lights as possible.
  • Make sure the house smells good. Baking cookies is often recommended. Air out the house just before the scheduled showing, but close the windows before they arrive.
  • Six very important words: no clutter, no clutter, no clutter!
  • Make sure everything is spotless. Pay particular attention to the bathrooms and the kitchen. In the bathrooms, towels should be fresh and clean, sinks and baths scrubbed, and the floor freshly cleaned. In the kitchen, make sure all dishes are put away and countertops and sinks are cleaned.
  • Check the thermostat to make sure that the house is at a comfortable temperature.
  • Remove pets from the house, or at least, keep them outside. Pets under foot will quickly put a damper on an otherwise positive showing.
  • It is best to leave the house during the showing and let the agent assist the buyer.

When I was ready to sell my town house and move into something more comfortable, friends from church introduced me to Kaye and Charlie. They were life savors for me. They stepped into my life and handled everything carefully and thoroughly from finding a buyer quickly and a home that is close to my office and I could afford. Kaye and Charlie and their staff worked together as a team with me. They cared and as a result I have been in a home that I could not be happier with. Call them, be honest with them and like me, you will be very glad you connected with them.
